At our elevation, you have to love the late bloomers! We haven’t had a hard frost yet, so that means some perennials are covered in flowers like they think it’s mid-summer. And some plants, like this asters, are just starting. Here are a few that caught my eye yesterday.
When I saw Vernonia larseniae blooming at Kendrick Lake a few years ago, I fell in love. But I’m not sure it will ever bloom at my elevation. This is its second full summer and it does have a few buds on it. Will they have time to open before we have a hard freeze? I’ll let you know.
