Snow and Best-Laid Plans

We are supposed to get our potting soil delivered today, by a semi-trailer truck from Canada. We split the load with another grower in our area, to help save on shipping costs. It’s one of the bigger deals of our year, and this year it seems to be going awry. That’s not the same as going a-Rye….

Maybe you can tell by my lame attempt at a joke that I’m a little worried about this shipment. We had over a foot of snow last night, and the roads to our place are not plowed. One of our neighbors comes down every year with a fork lift to pull the pallets off the semi. Before he can get here he needs to plow his own driveway, and then ours….and that’s assuming the county trucks get to our road today.

I’m sure everyone has their own story of travel plans postponed, shopping trips ruined, and family stranded. You have my sympathy!

Here I am, uncovering the bird feeders. IMG_9257

And here’s an evening grosbeak, not bothered by the weather.
