October Hummingbird Sighting!

There was just a skiff of snow on Greenhorn yesterday morning. First snow of the season!

It was a reminder that the hummingbirds will soon be gone. There are very few now, but in the last two days we’ve had four stop by on their way south. I hate to see them go.

We rarely see Monarch butterflies here, we’re not on their normal migratory path, but every now and then one will appear. Yesterday was such a day.

This one sipped nectar from Bill’s Big Blue Aster for a couple of hours! And then it went to the agastaches. There are still some flowers for them to visit here. We haven’t had a frost…yet.
