The rufous hummingbirds showed up early this summer. We saw the first one July 3. Now there are at least five males that are hanging out at the feeder. Last night I saw one sitting on a snag, and it rested there long enough for me to take a picture.
When the Agastaches are blooming, the hummingbirds prefer them to all the other flowers. Whether you call them Agastache (to rhyme with catastrophe) or opt for one of their common names–Wild Hyssop or Hummingbird Mint–you will learn to love them as much as the hummingbirds do.
