We order from many different suppliers to get all of our favorite tomatoes, and new ones to try, too. This year most of our tomatoes are from Johnny’s Selected Seeds, Miss Penn’s Mountain Seeds, and TomatoFest. If you’re wondering whether or not your old seeds are any good, try the float test. Put the seeds in a clear glass, fill with water, and watch. The ones that sink are usually good, the floaters are less likely to germinate. The seeds below are eight years old, a Colorado heirloom called ‘Flint Red,’ given to us by a friend. Only one floated!
