What’s New at the Nursery?

Thursday update: We have quite a few new little plants for troughs and rock gardens, and more will be ready with each passing day.  And I have to add some pictures of the Acorn Woodpecker, a new bird for us here at Perennial Favorites. This bird lives mostly in Arizona, New Mexico, and California, so its appearance here last night was surprising! I took a lot of pictures….002 003 013 020

We’re glad to have red yucca to sell now, thanks to our friend Jeff Ottersburg at Wild Things nursery.

We’ve grown lots of different kinds of Kniphofia over the years. The common name for this plant is Torch Lily, or Red Hot Poker.  The one that you see blooming in this picture is one of the most vigorous, a species called Kniphofia praecox.  It blooms in May, or early June, much earlier than the other varieties we grow. Here it is, starting to bloom in the pots.

032Salvia dorrii is ready now, too, along with Stachys lavandulifolia, a few Navajo tea plants, Kanutia macedonica, and the fern leaf tansy. Exciting times!
