There’s a lot happening here this weekend. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday there’s a daily drawing for a free plant. You can sign up anytime before 1 p.m each day. If you get here after one on Friday or Saturday, you can sign up for the next day’s drawing. On Saturday we’re having the presentation by Janet Fink on beekeeping at 10:00 a.m. As a master beekeeper, Janet will be able to answer your questions about how to start a backyard hive, and you can see the demonstration beehive she is bringing with her.
The drawing on Friday is for a hummingbird garden. We have so many great plants that attract hummingbirds! And, there are so many hummingbirds here to take advantage of them. The Saturday drawing is for an apple tree.
The drawing on Mother’s Day is for a hardy Canadian shrub rose. We’re giving away a rose that does as well at lower elevations as it does at high ones: Morden Sunrise. This fragrant repeat bloomer is one of the best. Here are a few pictures to tempt you:
This rose is in constant bloom! When it’s fully open, you see more of the yellow center, with a sunrise halo around it:
