HORSEBRUSH

When I see a plant in the wild that I don’t recognize, I often ask my friend Bob, the miserable gardener http://paridevita.com/, for help in identifying it.  That happened just last week:

This silver leafed shrub is very interesting.  Smallish for a shrub, only 15″ tall, and about the same width, the leaves are tiny and tidy. The yellow flowers look a little like a miniature rabbitbrush.  It’s Horsebrush, Tetradymia canescens–Bob gave me the link to check out the picture here http://www.swcoloradowildflowers.com/Yellow%20Enlarged%20Photo%20Pages/tetradymia.htm and that is definitely our shrub.  Cool.  I’m going to save seeds.
