I believe this is a subspecies, Iris spuria ssp. carthaliniae. It doesn’t have a very good common name, although some references call it the Blue Iris. The flower is very elegant, and the foliage always looks nice, unlike the showier bearded iris leaves. It’s not a water guzzler, but like most iris it likes to have moisture just before and during its bloom cycle. After that it can grow quite dry. They don’t need dividing like the bearded iris, or much attention at all. I like almost all iris and this one has become one of my favorites.
