We tried to time it so that we would be open during the monsoons, but we just barely made it. It finally started raining in the Greenhorn Valley and we are so happy we can’t contain ourselves. I’m going out this morning to weed, while the ground is soft and then plant some new deer resistant plants.

I’m glad we grew our vegetables in pots this year. We’re harvesting tomatoes and peppers, and eggplant won’t be far behind. Squash does well in pots, too. I planted it a little late, but it’s catching up.

Summer squash, starting to flower.

Flint Yellow, Valencia, and Sungold tomatoes.

Agastaches are just starting to flower in the garden here, and the hummingbirds will go to them before any other plant. They must have some serious nectar to offer.  Here’s a favorite picture from a couple of years ago, with a hummingbird hanging out with Agastache ‘Joyful.’

Last week I planted an Agastache ‘Heat Wave’ in the garden. Agastaches are still on our (shorter and shorter) deer resistant list.

We hope to see you this weekend, and also hope you are feeling refreshed by the rain.
